Yesterday evening I attended a meeting of the Lincolnshire Digital Business Cluster Group on behalf of Octagon Technology. The meeting was about the rollout of “superfast broadband” throughout Lincolnshire and this is where you come in dear reader.
It seems that BT will put in the required infrastructure if we can demonstrate that the demand is there. It’s a bit of a chicken and egg argument, because many people are unaware of what superfast broadband means – in fact many people in rural Lincolnshire would be grateful for any sort of connection to the internet!
If you need broadband please register with www.onlincolnshire.org and let them know. Again, if you don’t have an internet connection, this could be difficult! So please pass on the message as people can also register by telephone on 01522 782066.
If we can get BT to pay for some of the infrastructure, the money raised by the council and others can be used for those areas where BT will not pay, i.e. those areas which are sparsely populated. So this is important – we need to get the vast majority of people and businesses connected by 2015. Please register with www.onlincolnshire.org or on 01522 782066.
