We had an enquiry this morning, from a client, who had recieved a number of .emz files as attachments to an email, but she could not open them. I started to explain to but the client simply decided to forward me the email and I returned to her a file she could read.
So what is an .emz file?
It is a file format used by Microsoft – Windows Compressed Enhanced Metafile – for use with Microsoft office documents.
How to open the file?
If double clicking on the file does not work it means that your computer does not have an application associated with .emz files – you can go through the process to associate this file type with a program, however you may not wish to do that.
An easy solution is to open a blank Word document and drag the saved .emz file and drop it on the blank page. Word will then display the image. From there you can save or manipulate the image as required.
Please be aware though, that you should always be absolutely certain of the source of any files you open/execute on your PC – viruses and trojans are a hazard of the internet and email.
