When I talk to clients about security of their data, I am always warning people about Virus’ and Trojan’s. Well here’s another attack the BBC are warning us about:
BBC News – Police warn of ‘ransom’ spam targeting UK users.
You must be using good security, anti-virus, anti-spam software. Remember this is a problem where the protection is always playing “catch up” and so the software only works once a threat has been discovered, understood, the antidote software written, distributed and you get the update. Then the person who wrote the malware makes a small change in it and the “anti” software company and you have to start again.
Microsoft provides free security software for Windows computers.
If the worse happens, for complete peace of mind, you need a good backup that is checked regularly.

Trojans have been a problem for a long time and will continue to be.
