Where is your personal and business data stored?
I am writing this to let you all know that if you are currently using Google e.g (G-Suite) to store your data you should really think twice about keeping it there.
As of the 31st March this year all Google services in the UK are going to move from being regulated by Google Ireland to Google LLC which is based out of the U.S.A. Google’s reason is that the UK has left the EU.
This means that your data will no longer be required to be stored on UK servers, as it is under US control which may raise compliance issues with the GDPR provisions in the UK Data Protection Act.
Below is an excerpt from the Guardian Newspaper.
Google is to move the data and user accounts of its British users from the EU to the US, placing them outside the strong privacy protections offered by European regulators.
The shift, prompted by Britain’s exit from the EU, will leave the sensitive personal information of tens of millions not covered by Europe’s world-leading General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and therefore with less protection and within easier reach of British law enforcement.
