Why VoIP? What is it anyway?
VOIP stands for Voice Over Internet Protocol. It’s a way to have telephone conversations and online meetings and so on using an IP network such as the Internet. You don’t need to remember what it stands for, all you need to know is that you can plug into it from anywhere you have access to such a network. Even if you have no internet connection, you can use your mobile phone network.
Why would I want to change? I already have a landline and a mobile
Probably the main reason to think about changing is cost. It is very much cheaper to make a call over the internet than it is to use a landline. The other reason is that the traditional landline technology is not only expensive to install and maintain, it is also being phased out.
Switching your business to use only mobile phones is not really recommended either, as it makes your business look unprofessional. You can’t expect your clients to remember the mobile numbers for everybody in your company, and if you only give out one it looks as if your business is a one-person band – it may well be, but that might not be the impression you want to give!
Yes, that makes sense, but if I am using my mobile rather than my computer, won’t the client see my mobile number anyway?
No, if you use the app on your mobile to make the VOIP call, it will show your office landline number to the client.
I have no internet connection or mobile data – can I still get my calls?
We can set up call forwarding to any landline or mobile of your choice or another member of staff when not answered via your app. This can be done as a permanent rule or set up instantly on request.
