Business continuity and access to responsive and reliable technology are essential for businesses to maintain their operations and processes. But sometimes things go wrong, and the equipment may challenge you or even break without much notice. Many different scenarios can happen but your main aim will be to achieve business continuity and data safety.
Remote Monitoring and Maintenance
There are certain solutions available to users and RMM (Remote Maintenance and Monitoring) software is one we recommend. It will enable you to monitor your equipment’s performance and diskspace, notifying you of anything worrying and even proactively fixing the problem.
What is it and what does it do?
RMM is fully-featured software that can be installed on your PC, laptop, server or workstation remotely and customized either per device or rolled out to multiple devices at once. It will monitor your equipment’s performance or monitor other devices on the same network, such as routers, firewalls and more.
As part of these monitoring policies, automatic options can be set, meaning that common errors are automatically fixed by the software using a pre-programmed script or “component”, without the need to contact a support technician to resolve the issue. The software also creates a notification for IT staff to review the incident.
What’s more?
This is just one example of the utility of a RMM tool. It can also be used to monitor device security.
It can periodically check if antivirus software is up to date and protect your system actively, or check whether the latest Windows updates are installed, and if not, install them for you.
What is more, the RMM software can create a secure gateway for technicians to access a device unattended if necessary and configure it in advance or solve a problem. Even if no member of your staff can get to the device, a technician can still take remote control to solve the issue.
Are you a Mac user?
No problem! Many of the monitors will cover Mac versions of the software too.
The above are the most common examples of when the software can be used. The tool can be used in many more ways, policies can be created to track a device’s location, show who has logged in to a device, even toggle an alert when an unrecognised USB device is plugged in and that’s only brushing the surface!
In short:
An RMM tool can identify weaknesses and failures in your network, proactively fix problems before they affect workflow and give detailed reports to ensure your IT systems remain in top shape.
