Problem:
No Teams meeting option in Microsoft Outlook showing on 365.
Challenge:
The user logged a call with us as she couldn’t use the teams meetings addin for Outlook and it didn’t exist to be added manually.
Solution:
We tried reinstalling Teams and checking the addins to see if it had been disabled etc. Nothing worked. But then we noticed that Office didn’t quite look like the most recent version even though it said it was. On further investigation it turned out that the version was the same as a domestic version of 365 which is often bundled in to some new computers. We installed the correct version then uninstalled the old version. We then had to repair the install on the new version. The reason for this is that we didn’t want to lose any of the user’s settings. Once we had done this and ran the updates on, the Icon came back and the user was able to setup teams meetings through Outlook.
Result:
Much easier to create meetings and generate links for Teams.
Lesson:
Software isn’t always installed as it seems even if some parts are working normally.
