It is that time of year again – Father’s Day is coming. If you need inspiration for 18 June for a Geek Dad then look no further.
You will find tech, gadgets, coffee and cult presents below. Have fun and I hope you find something to suit your Geek Dad.
Let’s get on with the shopping…

Coffee on the go
IT support and cyber security run on coffee. I also like good coffee and those tubes you get in hotel rooms or get to take camping and hiking do not do it for me, so I have a travel coffee maker.
This one however is a bit more up-market. Easily packable for a stay in a hotel, camping trip or just to use in the office or at home. It makes fresh coffee and is a thermos travel mug.

Slip into his wallet
Diana bought me one of these for our wedding anniversary a number of years ago and I am now wondering why the credit card sized Victorinox Swiss Card has never made one of these lists before?
Exceptionally good quality, the sharp scissors are my go-to tool from the set, with the most use, but the rest get a use from time to time. I actually have two of these cards, one lives in my wallet the other lives in the cable, charger, accessory pouch I carry when I head out to work or travel.
A James Bond Pen
A Father’s Day Geek present list that does not include a James Bond pen would not be complete. Here is this year’s pen. A Screwdriver, a torch, screen stylus, bottle opener and hex tool. It includes spare batteries and pen refills. Oh yes, it is a pen as well!
This is not a handbag…
I do not normally repeat gifts between my “Geek Present” articles – you can always go back and check them out for yourself, if you cannot get inspiration from this post – but this bag has been brought forward on the suggestion of one of our clients, who bought it for themselves!
This bag made the list because you can plug it in. It has a fitted USB port that your Mum Dad can connect a power bank to and then conveniently charge her his stuff on the go.
For a power bank suggestion look here.

Looking for a cable?
This is really useful. A multi-cable that magnetically latches onto your keyring or bag. Add it to a small power bank and you have a portable set-up to charge your gadgets on the go.
Here are the options:
Input/Output Connections:
- USB to Micro-USB
- USB to Type-C
- USB to Lightning
- Type-C to Micro-USB
- Type-C to Type-C
- Type-C to Lightning

Does your Dad have a shed? (I do)
Here is something useful for that shed – and other places, including when travelling. It is a radio (DAB and FM) and a Bluetooth/cable speaker for any other device, so Dad can play his favourite music, podcast or audiobook from his phone to the speaker.
The radio comes with a charge cable which can be used with a phone charger to run the radio from the mains.

Quiz mug
Our son loves movies and will always interrupt a film to tell us what else that actor has been in – so finding this mug meant an entry for this article and a present for him. What is more geeky than spotting cult movie references?
If your Dad is into movies this a great fun gift and it passes the essential mug test for this list – it is dishwasher safe.

p.s. The answers are on the bottom of the mug.
p.p.s. Finish the coffee before checking the answers!
Games console for two
I featured a retro portable game console in a previous Geek present list. This one has the added benefit that it can be for two players. You and your Dad.
It comes with many games and all the required cables and controllers.

Let’s finish with a denial and some maths…
The pictures say it all.
Father’s Day’s 2023 done
I hope this has been fun for you and you got some inspiration or found a suitable gift for your Dad from this list.
I’d add a good bottle of single malt to whatever gift you get him (this is the subliminal message for my children), but whatever happens I hope you get a chance to spend time with or at least call your Dad on that Sunday.
