Defence in Depth

Defence in Depth Part 1

“Defence in depth is a strategy that leverages multiple security measures to protect an organisation’s assets. The thinking is that if one line of defence is compromised, additional layers exist as a backup to ensure that threats are stopped along the way”

SaaS Defence in Depth

Microsoft 365 is used by millions and is an excellent tool, harnessing cloud technology and all the benefits that it brings, but being good doesn’t mean it can’t get better. Although it is possible to backup your cloud data, backups are usually used to restore data post disaster as a recovery measure, which can cost a considerable amount of time, not to mention money. However, it does not provide protection from a data compromise occurring in the first place. With advanced threat protection as part of your defence in depth, a lot of the security risks can be taken care of before reaching your cloud environment. Prevention is better than cure!.

SaaS Defence provides additional layers of protection for the 365 environment, which integrate seamlessly and work behind the scenes to prevent and resolve cyber security threats.

Starting with email, SaaS has an advanced email filter to remove not only unwanted spam but any suspicious and malicious messages that contain code or attachments. It is more advanced than a screen for known threats, as it intelligently analyses content for abnormal behaviour and this allows it to detect zero-day threats. Preventing scammers and hackers from putting risk in front of people is a huge step towards preventing bigger problems later and is a huge part of your defence in depth.

Defence in Depth

SaaS Defence also checks other 365 apps and locations such as Teams, Sharepoint and OneDrive. Much like an anti-virus, SaaS Defence scans data in the cloud and removes threats that may have found their way into your platform. We shall provide more information on defence in depth in future articles.
