Hey! You with all the hats!

If you are a business owner, you wear many hats, particularly whilst your company is growing.  Big corporates can employ specialists – management accountants, financial accountants, tax specialists, contracts lawyers, employment lawyers, recruitment specialists, marketing gurus – and the list goes on.

You have to be all of those people, so how do you find out whether what you are doing is correct?  How do you find out whether what was correct last year has changed?  Do you lie awake at night worrying about whether your company is compliant with all the rules and regulations?

It’s tough, but you have to make the time to educate yourself.  Sign up for things, read the right books and websites, ask people at business networking meetings, and employ freelance specialists for a few hours a month if you can afford it.  I do all of those things, yet I still wonder if I have done enough.

One particularly important piece of legislation is the Data Protection Act, which incorporates the infamous EU-initiated GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation).  This requires everything possible to be done to protect personal data and companies can be fined considerable amounts if they have a data breach.  This also leads to a loss of trust and reputation for the company.

So you need to know how to protect the data in your possession, not just the personal data you may hold, but also company confidential information that could lead to your company failing if the information were to make its way into other people’s hands.

Don’t just lose sleep over this, you need to find out what you have to do, don’t you?

Well, we can help you there!

This Thursday at 10 o’clock we have a very special guest on our webinar.  John O’Mahony is a leading cyber security specialist and in our free-to-join webinar he will be explaining what you need to know to keep your data safe.  If you cannot make it on Thursday, sign up anyway, because we shall be recording the session and a replay will be available.
