I keep a fold-away backpack in my case for when I am travelling – useful for days out, trips to the shops or carrying that coat you needed when in snowy England but not when you get off the plane in the South of France. (Tickets to the South of France are an optional extra for this gift idea.

Small enough to drop in a laptop case or pocket, robust enough to replace the cardboard cutlery now supplied by many fast food and delivery restaurants – these can make eating in a hotel or at a stop whilst travelling easier.

Like travel cutlery and tools, t-shirts are popular on my Geek Gift lists. What parent has not stood on a Lego brick in bare feet?
