…written because your Mum does not want that Mother’s Day compilation CD that is constantly advertised on TV! She also wants something different to flowers and chocolates…
Bad planning on my behalf was part of the reason I missed out writing a Geek Mother’s article last year – something I am going to correct this year.
As ever with my Geek Gift articles they are for fun and inspiration, there are no affiliate links here.
Just don’t forget to get your Mum something – even if it is just a phone call on the day – and sorry a text full of emojis just will not do.

Fold-away Backpack
I keep a fold-away backpack in my case for when I am travelling – useful for days out, trips to the shops or carrying that coat you needed when in snowy England but not when you get off the plane in the South of France. (Tickets to the South of France are an optional extra for this gift idea.

Harry Potter Treats
I have sent this link to our granddaughters as their Mother is a great Harry Potter fan. I remember queuing with other Dads, when the books were first published, so she could read Harry’s adventures as soon as possible.

Star Trek Mug
The Original Series – what else is there to say other than “it’s logical”.

Insect Hotel
This is the prize that is becoming the most chosen, just behind the “luggage on wheels” on Richard Osman’s House of Games. It is definitely a geek present – I bought one for Diana, for Valentine’s Day, and she loved it. So did her cat for some reason!

Seed Balls
A hotel is no good unless it has a good restaurant.

Toolbox
This is the first of two “in a tin” gifts on this list. Champions on Richard Osman’s House of Games can win a toolbox – it is bigger than this one but it does not contain any tools.
Every geek loves a tin and tools – this is the perfect combination.

p.s. To my children who read this, I’d like a toolbox in a tin for Father’s Day.
Camper Van in a Tin
You have bought the tools, what better than to buy your Mum something to make with those tools… and it is in a tin!

Doctor Who on Ice
Not tickets to a show, but something to cool down that drink you will serve your Mum.

Travel Cutlery
Since Diana made the suggestion to add travel cutlery to the Christmas 2022 Geek Gift list, various versions have appeared on the Geek Gift lists. Small enough to drop in a laptop case or pocket, robust enough to replace the cardboard cutlery now supplied by many fast food and delivery restaurants – these can make eating in a hotel or at a stop whilst travelling easier.

Lego Tee-shirt
Like travel cutlery and tools, t-shirts are popular on my Geek Gift lists. What parent has not stood on a Lego brick in bare feet?

That’s It for my Mother’s Day Geek Gift list
Hopefully these ten gift ideas will give you inspiration and make your Mother smile. All you need now is a card…
Just one more thing…
On rereading this article I realised I did not mention that Mother’s Day is 30th March.
