We got a call earlier this week from the printer supplier of one of our clients, who needed us to go to site and sort out their printer, which had stopped emailing scans and PDFs. Of course they thought it was our fault because we manage the email and must have changed something!
It was a puzzle. Their engineer had it working with his gmail.com email account. We checked all the settings and it would not send using the client’s email address – and obviously the client did not want to email their customers using a gmail.com address. However Martin solved the problem and we will share the answer.
It was the default, automatic subject line the printer was using, “Documents Attached”. The email spam filtering was blocking it going out. Martin changed the settings in the printer and now it is working again.
Martin also let the printer company know the solution.
