My first days at Octagon

Sixteen-year-old Cameron Sweeney is the latest member of the Octagon Technology team. Cameron joined us through the apprenticeship programme and already he is a vital member of our client support team.

In recent years Octagon has taken an active part in the Sleaford Careers Event and this is where we met Cameron. Here is what he said about his first days at Octagon:

“I started helping out at Octagon about 2 years ago as ‘work experience’ and voluntarily gave up my school holidays to come in and work for them.  My first few days as an official employee at Octagon went very quickly. I had an introduction meeting to meet some of the team I have never met or spoken to before.  I love the work atmosphere with the team, everyone gets on and works together really well.

Since I’ve started my apprenticeship, I have been busy developing videos for the company for a project which has been really fun.  I look forward to doing intense future projects of what Octagon has got lined up for the future. If you ever have I.T. problems I would definitely recommend Octagon.”

It is a part of our business culture to help young people with their career path. In the last few years, we have had a few young people joining the team to complete their work experience in the area of IT Support. We also gave some interesting and information-rich talks to local schools.

If you have ever considered giving an apprentice an opportunity within your business, don’t hesitate, we strongly believe it is a win-win situation.
